A Republican website set up to attack President Obama's pro-gay stances has disappeared, the Human Rights Campaign reports.
The site, HopeIsntHiring.com, now redirects to GOP.com. It criticized Obama for the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" and his refusal to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in federal appeals court.
"Hopefully the Republican Party leadership has come to their senses and realized that attacking LGBT families offends the great majority of Americans," HRC president Joe Solmonese, who wrote a letter to the party last week condemning the site, wrote in a press release. "Polling overwhelmingly shows that Americans support LGBT equality and the Republican Party would be foolish to campaign on a platform based on discrimination and ignorance."
