Former New York Times food critic Frank Bruni will become the newspaper's first openly gay op-ed columnist.
Bruni, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of the memoir Born Round, will write an op-ed piece every other Sunday.
"Frank needs no introduction. Rosenthal, Opinion Page editor, wrote in an e-mail to staff.
ReadThe Advocate's profile on Bruni, in which he talks about his life as a journalist and food critic for some of the nation's most respected publications.
