"Straight boys take notes," Adrian Alvarez, who is gay, tweeted Sunday in a moving video post showcasing the relationship with his straight best friend, Hector.

Set to the soundtrack of the Disney/Pixar film Up, the video -- a compilation of images and video from the length of their friendship, which extends back to middle school -- went viral on the social media platform TikTok for fighting stereotypes over what it means to be on either side of the rainbow.

"This is me and hector," one of the captions of the video read. "A lot of ppl including our closest friends thought we were dating. But he's straight [and I'm] gay."

"He's my best straight boy-friend," the captions added. "I want to show how much I appreciate him for his fluid boldness to not giving a F*CK. He wasnt scared to show that [straight] guys can be as if not even more fem. than gays. He broke every straight stereotype."

The clip shows the pair being physically affectionate with one another -- gestures include a kiss on the cheek and Hector leaning on Alvarez's shoulder. They also wore makeup and appeared in drag together.

Alvarez praised his friend for supporting him in the face of stigma. "His dating life was not the best cuz every girl thought he was gay or dating me," he stated. "He was harassed and questioned about his sexuality all the time. But he didnt care. He was [on] a quest to make sure that gays felt safe and [comfortable] with their own skin. Hector u mean so much to me. I love you bro."

At the time of this article's publication, the video had more than 1.8 million views on Twitter. In the comments, many LGBTQ people shared photos and videos with their own straight friends. Others remarked how, sadly, they lost straight friends due to societal attitudes.
