Welcome to the heart and soul of the East Village in New York City. Read more about Brett Lindell below.

Thank God for photographers like Brett Lindell who keep the ethos of the East Village alive. Brett's documentation of the healthy spectrum of gender expression inspires. The kink, fetish, and pop art images complete a satisfying picture.

Brett tells us, "My goal as a photographer is to embrace gender and sexuality. To borrow a phrase from Jose Esteban Munoz, I seek to 'enact new and better pleasures, other ways of being in the world, and ultimately new worlds.' Some have the need to completely destroy themselves in order to find out what is real to them; for others, their understanding of who and what they are is so visceral that there is no choice but to be exactly that person. I explore these themes in my photography to discover and investigate the possibilities that lie in each of us."

Brett studied photography at the University of Arizona. He lives and works in New York City's East Village.

Latest works featured in Vaczine Magazine. Vaczine Magazineisavailable at Printed Matter and BGSQD Bookstore in NYC.
