The Sisters are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their first appearance on Easter Sunday, 1979, in San Francisco.
These photos bring together two artists whose work with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence spans over three decades. Greg Day's photos feature the first Mother House of San Francisco during its formative years of queer spirituality and activism. Mark Harvey's portraits of the Los Angeles Sisters from the late '90s to the present focus on capturing the mystique of individual personalities.
