Kissing Chuck Bass

Neal Bledsoe, the lucky actor who got to make out with Ed Westwick in an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl, is not afraid to talk about his gay smooch.

The heterosexual Bledsoe tells Entertainment Weekly, "Things like that shouldn’t matter. Unfortunately, for some actors things like that do matter, and they’ll turn down projects because of it. I thought it was a really fun episode. I had an awesome time doing it. And I think it would’ve been a shame if I was not open-minded enough to do the episode simply because I had to kiss another man."

Bledsoe's character on the teen soap is a 20-something lawyer who is a very well-connected alumnus at New York University and has a hand in deciding who will give the freshman speech. Angling for the speaking honor, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) asks her boyfriend Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) to plant one on Bledsoe's character.

Bledsoe admits he and Westwick practiced "more than a few" times on their lip lock, which will air October 19. The young actor also divulges that he's secured a role in the hotly anticipated sequel to the Sex and the City film.

I am just curious why so many straight men think it is so disgusting to kiss another man. I am about an 8 on the Kinsey scale, I have a strong sexual preference for men, but I have always had sex with women also. Are there gay men who are disgusted and cannot kiss women, even if it is just play-acting?

To Carter- don't bash gays on a gay network, that's just bad taste bud. Patricia whatsherface probably got fired because they ran out of things to lift (after 14 years on the same job), not because she stood against gays. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you shouldn't use such negative tones in your statements about gays. :)

Wait...Carter lives in LA and he's reading a gay news story. This is odd because his comment is littered with homonegativity. Is anyone else confused/concerned?

Carter youre a moron and a prick--go away. Now that thats out of the way, my only reaction to this story is: Why the hell dont they just hire gay actors to play gay characters. Its not like theres a shortage of gay actors seeking work in Hollywood.

The demise of Guiding Light has nothing to do with the fairly recent Otalia storyline. The overall show's quality has been dropping for years so don't blame it on that. Every daytime and nighttime soap is going to go for a gay angle now because the bigots have made it such an issue. So all I can say to you gay haters is, THANK YOU!!!! Aren't there some boring Christian soap operas (probably with gay actors in straight roles) in Utah that you can watch? Shouldn't you be supporting that Carter? And while you're at it, say hey to Chris Engen at McDonald's for me would ya? Go Neal and Ed!!!!

ProCarter here, it is not a homophobic rant. If someone supports gay they are praised by gay, and if not then condemned by gay. It is sort of like gay communism, support it or face the control anyways. The point is a good one regarding any job which thinks that it can call acting a pretending. In this way it can make porn and call sexual acts just mere acting with no conscience. Matters not whether the naked sex is hetero or gay, the perogative of a moral regarding it as NOT acting is eityher respected, or it is controlled by those who wish to rule with an aboslute freedom to trample on others freedoms. I personally ask how any married man or woman kisses sexually on screen and then proves in private they cant be backed to a wall and kissed the same way again in private life making them a slut to their committed partner. The simple claim committed wont kiss someone else doesnt seem to have an ACTING line.

I see that the loony, religious homophobes post on the Advocate as well as on Queerty. Odd, that all you God-fearing, anti-gay heteros spend so much time on gay blog sites. Something in particular that you're searching for, perhaps?

Ignore Carter's homophobic rant. However, I get sick of these constant "lets praise and worship a straight guy for playing gay in a movie/tv show" interviews

Get over it Carter. This is 2009. Don't like it, turn the channel. Maybe you should stop watching so much soaps.

I think it's awesome and phenomenal that actors are willing to lose their jobs and their income to play disgusting gay plot lines! Most notably, it has happened on 2 soaps. Patricia Mauceri, who had a job on One Life to Live for 14 years, and was a valued member of the cast, was fired and replaced because she refused to endorse her support for a gay stoy. Chris Engen, who played Adam on Young and Restless, quit his HIGH paying job because the DISGUSTING plot twist conflicted with his beliefs as a human. Though it would seem, there is NO law bounding ANY actor to be forced to play gay scenes. Some are only glad to do so. They'll have to answer to that before God. But the ones who refuse, and stand by their morals, and principles, I applaud! Let's take a reality check and face it! Soapswere born and thrived in the eras of housewives and dish soap. Incorporating promiscuous, sleazy gay man sex into the story is going to be the final death knell. Look at Guiding Light!
