Three leading New York theater companies are showing interest in Singing Forest, the latest play from out writer Craig Lucas (Longtime Companion, Prelude to a Kiss), according to Playbill.com. The show is currently making its East Coast debut at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Conn., and New York's Roundabout Theater Company, Manhattan Theater Club, and Public Theater all reportedly have feelers out to bring it to Broadway. Singing Forest tells the story of three generations of one family, starting in New York in 2000 and working its way backward to post-World War II Paris and 1930s Vienna. Lucas's film directorial debut, The Dying Gaul, based on his play of the same name, recently had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
