Stephen Bennett, who claims to have been 'cured' of his homosexual tendencies, says same-sex couples can 'absolutely' raise children, but it's against God's master plan.

Although the so-called ex-gay movement is losing members at a startling clip, there are still a few conservative institutions trotting out people who claim to be "former homosexuals" as proof that sexual orientation can be changed, despite all scientific evidence to the contrary.

One such outlet, a self-proclaimed Christian radio show called Understanding the Times With Jan Markell, hosted noted homophobe Linda Harvey and two of the remaining "ex-gay" activists on air this weekend for a segment titled "Why We Can't Celebrate Pride." (Apparently, no one informed the antigay activists that LGBT Pride Month is typically observed in June.)

Together, the guests and host bemoaned the ungodly advances achieved by those fighting for LGBT equality, claiming that the "minuscule" portion of the population who identifies as LGBT is "wagging the dog" when it comes to American politics.

In the clip, "ex-gay" activist Stephen Bennett contends that only "five percent" of the estimated 2.5 percent of Americans who identify as LGBT are actually "militant activists who are trying to turn this country upside down."

"Look at what they have done," laments Bennett. "Look at the amount of change that has happened over the last several years, because of just a handful of powerful homosexual activists. It's not only affected the government, it's affecting schools, it's affecting families, it's affecting churches, and of course, what they're trying to do, is they're basically marching in with their fists shaking, saying 'We demand equality. Homosexuality is equal, is equivalent, to heterosexuality.' And folks, it is not. I mean, anyone with a brain realizes it is not equal. Two men are not the same thing as a man and a woman, a man and a wife."

Bennett doesn't address the common-sense point that even if two groups of people are different, they should each be afforded the same rights under the fundamental principles of democracy, enshrined in the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights.

Bennett does, however, admit that same-sex couples are "absolutely" capable of raising children. But, he posits, "Is that what God's perfect plan is? Absolutely not."

Right Wing Watch pulled audio from the segment, which you can hear below.
