An act of “mopping,” a term used in the drag community to describe theft, occurred recently when Melania Trump plagiarized a part of her speech from Michelle Obama at the Republican National Convention. In the spirit of appropriation, The Advocate compiled a list of quotations from drag performers and attributed them to the wife of the Republican presidential candidate. Donald Trump himself could benefit from this wisdom and experience. Perhaps he would listen to the words of LGBT folks if they were mopped by Melania.
