It's that time of year again when Superfine Art Fair opens in New York City. The fair is running until Sunday, September 18 and features more than 130 LGBTQ+ artists and artists of color from around the world, according to the event organizers. They've dubbed the event, which started in 2015, the "world's most inclusive fair."
Additionally, the amount fair-goers pay goes directly to the artists. Superfine Art Fair says it takes no commission from purchases at the event.
"When we looked at the art world as gay men in our 20s and 30s, we felt excluded. We built Superfine to be a welcoming space where people who love art can collect it without putting on heirs," says Alex Mitow, who founded Superfine with James Miille.
Organizers say Superfine has genterateded over $10 million for independent artists at its fairs in six cities across the U.S.
