Gay director Pedro Almodovar, whose last film, All About My Mother, took home the Best Foreign Film Oscar for 1999, won't be returning to the Academy Awards this year with his latest, reports Variety. Spain snubbed his Talk to Her in favor of choosing Fernando Leon's drama Mondays in the Sun as the nation's representative in this year's Oscar derby. The Spanish Academy leaned toward the latter film following its impressive domestic box-office take of more than $4 million as well as the presence of leading man (and past Oscar nominee) Javier Bardem.
