Rough week for out actor Rupert Everett--the Los Angeles Times reports that Mr. Ambassador, the series pilot featuring Everett and Sir Derek Jacobi, was not picked up by NBC even though the network had set up a major development deal with him. It was also announced this week that Unconditional Love, the feature film starring Everett and Kathy Bates that was directed by P.J. Hogan (My Best Friend's Wedding) in 2000, will finally surface as a world premiere movie on the Starz! cable network on Saturday, August 2. Unconditional Love also features Jonathan Pryce, Dan Aykroyd, Julie Andrews, and Barry Manilow. The film tells the story of a housewife and a British valet who team up to solve the murder of a pop singer they both loved.
