Ron Nyswaner to adapt The Monk Downstairs for Julia Roberts's production company

Variety reports that out screenwriter Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) will adapt Tim Farrington's novel The Monk Downstairs for Julia Roberts's production company, Red Om Films, and for About Schmidt producer Michael Besman. The book tells the story of a single mom who rents an apartment to a man who has spent the last two decades living in a monastery. Soldier's Girl, featuring a screenplay by Nyswaner, premieres on Showtime on Saturday, May 31.
