ABC has announced that Bryan Singer has come on board to possibly direct a stateside version of the British prime-time soap Footballers' Wives.

The show will follow a group of women whose lives are changed when they marry NFL superstars. The U.K. version was about soccer players' wives and aired on BBC America.

Singer is well-known for his action and superhero films, including the X-Men trilogy and the newest Superman installment.

The show is being backed by Touchstone TV, the same studio that produces Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, and Ugly Betty. (The Advocate)
