Alan Cumming will play the Scarecrow in the upcoming $19 million Sci Fi Channel miniseries Tin Man, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The miniseries is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum's classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The six-hour series stars Zooey Deschanel as the Dorothy character, Neil McDermott as the former policeman Cain (also called Tin Man because of his tin badge), Richard Dreyfuss, Neal McDonough, Kathleen Robertson, and Raoul Trujillo.
Nick Willing (Alice in Wonderland, Jason and the Argonauts) will direct. Cowriters and executive producers are Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle. Vancouver's Anthem Visual Effects will do the computer-generated imagery.
Filming starts at the end of March. The miniseries will air in December. (The Advocate)
