Logo, the
television channel that caters to an LGBT audience,
finalized a collaboration deal Thursday with the
world's largest online DVD rental site,
Netflix. The promotional agreement gives the two
corporations the opportunity to work together as well
as to benefit from one another's assets.
Netflix will be given exclusive access to DVD copies of Logo
series, and Logo will promote Netflix through commercials,
according to a statement issued by the companies on
Thursday. The network will also benefit from the
Netflix recommendation system, which makes movie and
television show suggestions to its users based on their
rental history.
Leisl Copland,
head of Netflix's original content division,
emphasized the importance of diversity in the
corporation, saying in the press release,
"Netflix is committed to expanding the reach of a
broad range of diverse content using multiple channels
to speak to varied audiences. Through such ventures,
we are able to broaden our scope by becoming a
destination for contemporary and relevant material which
grants audiences immediate access to hard-to-find
programming through our DVD and streaming
platforms." (The Advocate)
