Gay Faves Do Well at SAG Awards

Colin Firth's acclaimed portrayal of a gay man devastated by the death of his lover in A Single Man has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award. Firth will compete for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in Leading Role.

Gabourey Sibide and Mo'Nique received nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in Leading and Supporting Roles, respectively, for Precious, directed by out director Lee Daniels.

Five television series with prominent gay characters received attention: Glee, Modern Family, and The Office will vie for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, while Mad Men and True Blood will compete for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Other nominations in projects with gay appeal include Grey Gardens stars Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore, who will compete with Prayers for Bobby's Sigourney Weaver for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries.
