Knicks in five during Pride!

For the first time since 1973, the New York Knicks won the NBA championship by beating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5, causing the city to erupt into one of the biggest — and most chaotic — celebrations the country has ever seen.

In the 53 years since the Knicks last won a championship, the world has changed. The internet was invented, we had our first Black president, gay marriage was legalized, and now queer people can celebrate a historic win with a hot kiss in public just like everyone else.

After taking home the win, the streets of New York City filled with people setting off fireworks, spraying each other with champagne, jumping onto buses, and making out in front of the world.

Video footage of two men kissing as if their lives depended on it while hanging from a signpost has gone viral on social media, racking up over 7.8 million views at the time of publication.

The person in the background of the video yelling, “Oh f—k yeah,” truly had the right reaction.

And if you’re wondering about the sapphic representation at the celebration, two women jumped up on the same signpost to kiss as well.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the Knicks winning in the middle of Pride Month!
