Downton Abbey

The Crawleys are back and times are changing in the trailer for the movie.Ā

"No maid, no valet, no nanny, even?" Downton Abbey patriarch Robert Crawley asks of his daughter Lady Edith when she arrives at her home after setting out to start a family of her own.

"It's 1927. We're modern folk," proclaims Lady Edith's husband, signaling that times have indeed changed since audiences last saw the residents of the grand estate on the BBC series in 2016.

All of the faves are back from the series, including Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary with a mod haircut and Dame Maggie Smith's Violet Crawley doling out the familiar bons mots.

The central premise in the trailer is that the royals have announced they're going to visit Downton and the family and staff must prepare.

In a trailer that doesn't reveal too much in the way of plot, it appears that Rob James-Collier's gay valet Thomas will finally see a little bit of happiness with a new romance.

The Downton Abbey movie hits theaters September 19.
