AIDS Project Rhode Island, the state's largest AIDS service organization, has received a $3,000 grant from the Until There's a Cure Foundation to pay for speakers to give HIV education and prevention talks to schools, substance abuse clinics, churches, and other groups, the Providence Journal reports. The talks include presentations by HIV-positive people about the challenges they face in fighting the virus and question-and-answer sessions with health experts and people living with the virus. "The value of this program is that it puts a real-life face on the epidemic," Chris Butler, APRI's executive director, told the Journal. "Hopefully young people hear the stories of these folks and realize [the] profound effect that HIV has on a person's life." (Advocate.com)
