NAPWA executive
director announces departure

Terje Anderson, executive director of the National Association of People With AIDS, will be stepping down as head of the agency at the end of the year, reports AIDSMAP.com. Anderson announced his decision to leave NAPWA at the recent Staying Alive 2005 Positive Leadership Summit in Los Angeles. He held the top position at the NAPWA for the past 5 1/2 years after working as the agency's deputy director for policy and a board member.

"I have never had, and will probably never again have, a better job than this," said Anderson in a press release. "Working at NAPWA, I have had the opportunity to play a leadership role on the issues that matter most to me as a person living with HIV/AIDS. I have had the privilege to get to know and work with an amazing group of dedicated, talented, and interesting people, including the NAPWA staff, board, and thousands of constituents and allies around the country and the world."

Although Anderson is leaving NAPWA, he told AIDSMAP.com he will remain committed to the fight against AIDS. "I am looking forward to making a different kind of contribution to the fight than can be done while shouldering the fiscal, human resource, and organizational responsibilities of leading a large national AIDS group," said Anderson. "I have no intention of disappearing into the woodwork." (Advocate.com)
