The Brazilian health ministry plans to distribute 25 million free condoms throughout the nation during Carnival festivities, February 25-28, in an effort to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The number of condoms to be handed out is more than double the 11 million distributed during last year's Carnival celebration. The condoms will be passed out at parades, parties, dances, and on the streets as well as being made available in hospitals and health care centers. (Advocate.com)
