Richard Feachem, the executive director of the United Nations-backed Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, has announced that he plans to retire in July. Feachem, who has guided the Global Fund for nearly four years and has secured more than $8.5 billion in funding for global disease prevention and treatment, says he decided to step down from his position due to personal and professional reasons.
