An Iranian
journalist who wrote an article titled "Let's
Make AIDS Public" in the Tamadon-e
Hormozgan weekly newspaper has been banned by an
Iranian court from working as a reporter for five
years for attempting to "spread vice" with the
story, Agence France-Presse reports. Reporter Elham
Afrootan was acquitted of more serious charges of
insulting the late Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini.
The manager of the weekly newspaper was sentenced in April
to 20 months in prison for allowing the article to be
published. The newspaper also was shut down by the
Iranian court. (The Advocate)
