Emory University
gets HIV vaccine grant
Two scientists at Atlanta's Emory University have received a $4.5 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for HIV vaccine research, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The grant is part of a larger $287 million package of 16 grants by the foundation for international HIV vaccine research. Emory's Rafi Ahmed and Bali Pulendran received their grant to study vaccine candidates that encourage the body's immune system to fight off invading HIV. (The Advocate)
