Housing Works will unveil a women-only residential health care facility in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 20, making housing available to women living with HIV and AIDS. The 11,000-square-foot center cost $3 million and is the only facility of its kind in the state that offers comprehensive medical and supportive services tailored to the needs of women living with the virus, according to a press release. Residents will have access to dental, medical, and mental health services; substance abuse counseling; job training; and art therapy.

The programming and physical design of the Women's Health Center, which features a waterfall, multipurpose gym, child care area, and art installation by acclaimed artist Annie Wharton, has been overseen largely by female Housing Works clients and staff. (The Advocate)
