In a year filled with exciting pop music comebacks, especially among LGBT icons and allies, here's one more to celebrate.

Hip-hop legend Missy Elliott has shared her first new video in seven years and understandably her internet fans are rejoicing with shares, hashtags (#MissyElliottAppreciationDay), and joy galore.

The iconic rapper, who hasn't released an album since 2005's The Cookbook, and whose last solo single was three years ago, got a clear sense of how much the music world missed her earlier this year when she made a cameo during Katy Perry's Super Bowl halftime performance.

The momentum only increased when Elliott appeared on the single "Burn It Up," off Janet Jackson's comeback album Unbreakable.

On Wednesday, Elliott created an Instagram account and immediately announced a surprise video would be released the next day. She also said a new album was on its way.

The song is a new Pharrell Williams collaboration called "WTF (Where They From)" and it's bursting with Missy-isms like fresh, hypnotic beats, witty wordplay, and allusions to her previous work.

And the video? A zany and futuristic romp through Los Angeles. Also, puppets! In other words, pure Missy.
