Akron, Ohio, is trying to tap into the $55 billion per year that gays spend on traveling. The city's convention and visitors' bureau will meet with gay-friendly businesses to figure out how to lure LGBT visitors, according to the Associated Press.
The chairman of the Akron Area Pride Collective told the AP that gays would want to visit the community, especially to experience west Akron's historic Highland Square neighborhood.
Akron would join a handful of cities that declared or solidified their commitment to entice LGBT tourists in the past year, including Dallas, Philadelphia, and Chicago. (The Advocate)
