Advocacy group Be an Angel Romania has been hard at work creating the first gay Internet channel in Romania, according to Agence France-Presse. Known for its large Orthodox community, Romania has inched its way toward fair treatment for gays, beginning with the 2001 decision to decriminalize homosexuality.

Angelicuss TV will aim to educate and inform the LGBT community in Romania through music, news, and entertainment programming, the website explains.

Lucian Dunareanu, president of the organization, said Angelicuss TV will be "a means of communication within our community, communication with civil society, and the Romanian audience in general." According to the site, it will broadcast varied programs that will include "gay music, news, entertainment, and films."

While funding for the new channel will be limited, a gay German station has offered to lend technical support. The new site is expected to launch October 1 on www.angelicuss.beanangel.ro/.(The Advocate)
