A new poll shows that a majority of Florida voters favor same-sex marriage or civil unions and also oppose the state's ban on adoption by gays. The Quinnipiac University study found that 27% of voters in the state support same-sex marriage, while 35% support civil unions, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

However, that combined 62% is the same percentage of Florida voters who supported the state's ballot measure banning both gay marriage and civil unions on Election Day last November, the paper reports.

According to the poll, 55% of voters oppose the state's ban on adoption by gays.

The poll was released Thursday and has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points. (Advocate.com)
