Regent Worldwide
has announced that it has acquired international rights
to Little Ashes, starring Twilight sensation
Robert Pattinson, Spanish actor Javier Beltran,
and British Independent Film Awards nominee Matthew
McNulty.
Directed by
Academy Award nominee Paul Morrison, the film is set against
the backdrop of an unstable pre-Civil War Spain and follows
the life of Salvador Dali as he arrives at
university, young, awkward, and shy but
determined to become a great artist. There he catches the
eye of two of the most popular students, Federico
Garcia Lorca (Beltran) and Luis Bunuel
(McNulty). The trio quickly becomes an unstoppable force --
the most ultramodern group in Madrid. Yet as time passes,
Salvador cannot ignore the intensifying chemistry
between him and Federico, and the two form a bond
fueled by their fierce ambitions, friendship, and love.
Little Ashes is one of several notable
international films Regent has acquired in recent months,
including Departures, one of this year's Academy
Award nominees for Best Foreign Language Film;
Tokyo Sonata, the 2008 Cannes Un Certain
Regard Jury prize winner; The Song of Sparrows,
Iran's official entry for the 81st Academy Awards;
and Serbis, a 2008 Cannes Official
Competition entry. Little Ashes is set for
release in U.S. theaters beginning March 27. (Rhiza
