Police in Ottawa, Canada, are seeking a Roman Catholic bishop from Nova Scotia who is wanted on child pornography charges filed on September 25.

Raymond Lahey, bishop of the Antigonish diocese in Nova Scotia, resigned suddenly via letter on Saturday and cannot be found. He was recently seen in Ottawa, where his current trouble began, according to CBC News.

"Lahey was reentering Canada at the Ottawa International Airport on September 15 when members of the Canada Border Services Agency pulled him aside for a secondary examination, according to a release from Ottawa police," reports CBC News. "Officers found images on Lahey's laptop computer 'that were of concern.'

"He was released at the time. The computer was seized and police said a subsequent forensic examination of the computer revealed child pornography."

Lahey, 69, is well known for helping to broker a $15 million settlement with people who claimed sexual abuse by priests in the Antigonish diocese.

The manhunt for Lahey is being conducted while a Vatican representative to the United Nations contends that the majority of clergy who sexually abuse children are Protestants.
