Elton Johns Former Lover Committed Suicide

A man who had a relationship with Sir Elton John prior to his marriage to David Furnish committed suicide because he could not come to terms with his sexual orientation.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph of London, John said that the man, who he declined to identify, threw himself in front of a truck. John did not specify when the man had killed himself.

"Years back I had a relationship, and I had absolutely no idea in the world he was going to do this," Elton said. "There was so much grief."

David Furnish, who married John in 2005, said his husband's former lover "was so tortured by the conflicting views between his sexuality and his strong religious beliefs that he chose to take his own life."
