A rookie lesbian police officer who took her own life by hanging over the weekend left a suicide letter that accused her colleagues in the Metropolitan Police Service in London of homophobia.
According to The Sun, "Lara Goldie, 28, claimed staff at the Metropolitan Police's Hendon training college were prejudiced against her because of her sexuality."
A neighbor found Goldie, who worked in the North London borough of Haringey, dead in her East London home Sunday morning. She had recently broken up with a girlfriend.
According to The Sun, "Much of her letter outlined the recent personal problems in her life. But one paragraph singled out colleagues for their treatment of her."
The police department has launched an internal investigation. Police denied the allegations of homophobia and said that Goldie had made no complaints about antigay treatment before her death.
