The Palm Springs, Calif., police department has begun an investigation regarding an officer's use of antigay slurs while working on an undercover sex sting operation, according toKPSP Local 2, a Palm Springs TV station.

Police chief David Dominguez said his department will review the officer's language, which was captured on a video recording preceding the arrest of 24 men on charges of indecent exposure and lewd conduct.

The sting took place in the Warm Sands neighborhood. Officers were monitoring the area regularly, following complaints of illegal activity.

Dominguez will not release the officer's name pending the internal investigation.
