A gay rights activist was found not guilty on pornography charges
after a police raid of his home in May which turned up a DVD in his
office featuring two men having sex.
Ignatius Muhambi, an accountant for Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe, was arrested with office administrator Ellen Chademana, according to Agence France Presse. His attorney said the prosecution was unable to establish a case against him, causing the magistrate to acquit him. Chademana's trial has been postponed to August 2.
The trial comes days after Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe's latest tirade against gays, comparing same-sex marriages to "dog behavior" at a religious gathering. Mugabe has ruled out, and rallied against, including gay rights in his country's new constitution, which is being proposed to the government.
