Visit Sweden and SAS Scandinavian Airlines are teaming up in an effort to host the first in-flight same-sex wedding.

The contest is open to one U.S. and one European couple. The U.S. winners will get married en route from New York to Sweden this December, honeymooning at the world-renowned Ice Hotel and for three additional days in Stockholm.

The European couple will honeymoon in New York and Los Angeles.

The two companies have launched an online social networking site where couples can upload a video or photos and create profiles urging people to vote for them.

"Airlines, including SAS, have organized weddings onboard flights for decades, but we are proud to be the first in the world to organize same-sex weddings in the air," Robin Kamark, chief commercial officer for SAS, said in a statement.
