Former Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman is throwing his weight behind a conservative congressional candidate who claims to be "pro-life" and "pro-family."
Randy Altschuler, the Republican and Conservative parties' candidate in a district on Long Island, is running against Democratic representative Thomas Bishop, a pro-equality candidate, backed by the National Stonewall Democrats, according to Towleroad.
Mehlman appears on an invitation for q September 27 fund-raiser for Altschuler, which was reposted by Politico. Altschuler was endorsed Monday by former Massachusetts governor and possible 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
