Oprah Assessed Rosie's "Crazy"

In a profile in Fortune about Oprah Winfrey's new TV channel, Winfrey admits checking on the sanity of Rosie O'Donnell, who will host a talk show on the new network.

Knowing of O'Donnell's sometimes brash demeanor, Winfrey and other television executives visited O'Donnell's New Jersey home in June. Winfrey told Fortune, "Rosie said, 'I know you're here to assess how crazy I am.' I said, 'Basically, yes. I'm doing a crazy check.' What I found is that she is so generous as a mother." But Winfrey told O'Donnell, "If you have an issue that's causing a problem, speak to me, woman to woman, so that it doesn't become a worldwide issue."

O'Donnell must have passed the test, because she indeed will host her own show on the OWN network, which goes live in early 2011.
