A Denver man was charged Wednesday with assault and a hate crime, having been accused of attacking a woman in a parking lot because he thought she was a lesbian.
Alexander Declouet, 21, was charged with second-degree assault, criminal mischief, and bias-motivated crime, according to The Denver Post. All of the offenses are felonies.
Declouet was arrested October 3; the assault occurred August 22. According to KUSA, he is scheduled to appear in court on November 8 to be formally advised of the charges.
