Possible Hate Crime in San Diego
A 32-year-old San Diego man was beaten in the early hours of Halloween morning, and he says it was because he was gay.
Jacob Harshburger was walking his dogs in the North Park neighborhood when he was attacked, he says. He was wearing a T-shirt with a gay reference on it, which likely alerted people to his sexual orientation.
After neighbors heard screams, they called police, and Harshburger was taken to the hospital and treated for facial lacerations and a concussion. His initial statement to police didn't mention antigay slurs, but Harshburger says that's because he was in the ambulance at the time and "completely out of it."
