The Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday morning is holding the first of two scheduled hearings on the results of the Pentagon study about repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Hearings are scheduled on Thursday and Friday for the panel led by Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan and Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
Scheduled to appear on Thursday are Defense secretary Robert M. Gates, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman
admiral Mike Mullen, Defense Department general counsel Jeh Johnson, and
Army general Carter Ham.

On Friday, the panel will hear from Joint Chiefs of Staff vice chairman general James E. Cartwright, Army
chief of staff general George W. Casey Jr., Naval chief of operations
admiral Gary Roughead, Marine commandant general James F. Amos, and Air
Force chief of staff general Norton A. Schwartz.
The Pentagon Study released Tuesday determined that the policy could be ended without harming the military's ability to fight.
