Gay cabaret singer David Gurland died of a massive brain hemorrhage Wednesday in New York City.
Gurland was a fixture on New York's cabaret circuit and won numerous awards for his act; he was nominated for a Gay and Lesbian American Music Award and won four Bistro Awards. Playbill reports that up until recently, Gurland was singing with the band Uptown Express and had recorded the CD Take You There with the group.
Gurland is survived by numerous family members and his partner, actor Rob Maitner.
