Two prominent names arguing the opposing opinions on gay marriage
faced
off on MSNBC Wednesday after House speaker John Boehner announced
that Congress would continue to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court.
Peter Sprigg of the antigay Family Legal Council said marriages are designed only for heterosexual couples so they can produce children. Evan Wolfson, however, countered that gay and lesbian parents are already raising children and that Sprigg's statements are being used to harm those children's rights. Wolfson also said several lower courts have already ruled that DOMA is unconstitutional.
