The Book of Mormon, the hit Broadway musical by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will definitely be made into a film, the duo tells Entertainment Weekly.
Parker and Stone, who cowrote the show with Robert Lopez, say they plan to adapt the show into a film, but it will be at least a few years off. "Hopefully it will have a big run and a big tour and then we can do the movie in several years," Parker tells EW. The show about Mormon missionaries in Uganda won nine Tony Awards earlier this year and costars out actor Rory O'Malley, cofounder of Broadway Impact, who received a Tony nomination for his performance as a closeted missionary.
The Book of Mormon is currently being performed before sellout crowds at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in New York.
