Elon Musk Agrees to Libs of TikTok Request for X ‘Data Dump’ on Anti-Defamation League

Chaya Raichik, Libs of TikTok and Elon Musk

The owner of the platform formerly known as Twitter continues to engage with the hate account.

Elon Musk defended Chaya Raichik, the woman who runs the anti-LGBTQ+ account Libs of TikTok on Musk’s platform X, formerly Twitter, and agreed to a “data dump” he claims will expose efforts to deplatform the hate account owner. The billionaire, who threatened to sue the Anti-Defamation League for $22 billion on claims that the organization was responsible for “destroying half the value of the company” after the group accused him of being anti-Semitic, invoked the hate account owner as justification for his crusade against the anti-hate organization.

“ADL has pushed hard for us to shut down accounts like Chaya’s, even though it has nothing to do with anti-Semitism, which is their supposed charter!” Musk wrote in response to a post critical of the ADL’s designation of Libs of TikTok as an anti-LGBTQ+ hate account.

“I’m old enough to remember when the ADL smeared Libs of TikTok founder Chaya Raichik, an Orthodox Jewish woman, as anti-LGBTQ,” the person to whom Musk was responding had written.

Predictably, Raichik reveled in the attention the richest man in the world has afforded her from time to time. Musk has become her personal complaint center and customer care representative. She tags him in complaints that she registers to her 2.5 million followers, and Musk responds and amplifies her account to his 155.6 million followers.

“Elon, would you consider releasing some of the communications between X and the ADL so we can all see their true intentions? I’m definitely interested in seeing their requests to ban my account!” Raichik wrote to Musk from the Libs of TikTok account at 5:57 p.m. Monday.

At 6:32 p.m., seemingly not receiving a response quickly enough, Raichik posted a screenshot of her reply to Musk with another appeal for the X owner, who in May handed over company stewardship to new CEO Linda Yaccarino but continues to call the shots.

“Dear Elon, Please consider releasing all communications and providing full transparency on the ADL & all other organizations who have pushed to censor certain accounts on Twitter/X. Sincerely, Thousands of users who have been suspended, throttled, silenced, and shadowbanned,” Raichik wrote.

At 6:55 p.m., Musk responded to Raichik directly, “Great point. A giant data dump would clear the air.”

To which Raichik responded 10 minutes later, apparently sensing an opportunity to promote herself further, “Thank you, Elon! Please let me know if you would like LoTT to help release some of the data.”

She then broadcast the development to Libs of TikTok followers, writing, “BREAKING: Elon suggests he will release all the data relating to the ADL and other organizations pushing to censor and silence X accounts We need a full list of which organizations pushed for censorship and which accounts were affected! THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET WILD.”

“That’s for sure,” Musk responded, hedging that it may take until next week because of staffing issues.

Libs of TikTok targets LGBTQ+ people with videos Raichik takes from their accounts and frames in such a way that her rabid anti-LGBTQ+ followers get riled up with hate.

Experts in extremism have said that Raichik engages in stochastic terrorism. They point to the fact that after Raichik has targeted hospitals and school districts with attention on her account, some have received bomb threats and become targets of acts of violence.

Musk blamed the ADL for the company’s massive losses after the Tesla CEO bought the social media platform.

“Based on what we’ve heard from advertisers, ADL seems to be responsible for most of our revenue loss,” Musk tweeted.

Since Musk took Twitter private and fired most of its workforce, X, the rebranded company, has continued to platform bigots of all kinds, including white supremacists, homophobes, neo-Nazis, transphobes, racists, anti-Semites, and people with other vile beliefs.

A spokesperson for the ADL pointed The Advocate to a statement in which ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt addressed Musk’s threats to sue the organization.

“It is profoundly disturbing that Elon Musk spent the weekend engaging with a highly toxic, antisemitic campaign on his platform – a campaign started by an unrepentant bigot that then was heavily promoted by individuals such as white supremacist Nick Fuentes, Christian nationalist Andrew Torba, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and others.”

He added, “This behavior is not just alarming nor reckless. It is flat out dangerous and deeply irresponsible. We need responsible leaders to lead, to stop inflaming hatred and to step back from the brink before it’s too late.”

Musk fired most of the company’s trust and safety team and rolled back protections for transgender people on the platform. He also claimed “cisgender” was considered a slur on X going forward.

Research has shown that the platform has become increasingly inhospitable for LGBTQ+ users, who find themself targeted by trolls.

In April, Musk ended the blue checkmark verification program that previously meant a user was notable and authentic.

The platform has become toxic since then as anyone can have the icon next to their name with a paid subscription, and mostly trolls and conservatives have embraced the checkmark as a way to “own the libs and elites” who they claimed previously operated a caste system of sorts whereby those with blue checkmarks had been bestowed status.

Far-right extremists have embraced Musk and Musk seemingly them as he continues to engage with problematic accounts on the platform.
