Influencer says he's undercover as a gay male escort at the Republican National Convention

A content creator is going viral after making a video claiming he was going undercover as a male escort at the Republican National Committee's midterm convention.

Nick Pringle (@original_pringles) posted a video on his popular Instagram page Thursday claiming that he was currently outside the convention in Dallas, Texas, and had a devious plan to expose the hypocrisy of the Republican Party.

Pringle announced that he plans to pose as a male escort to lure in Republicans and religious leaders guilty of “championing and writing legislation that actively makes lives harder for the LGBT+ community while engaging in homosexual activities.”

The social media influencer, who frequently makes videos calling out conservatives and defending LGBTQ+ rights, said he is infiltrating the two-day event celebrating President Trump’s accomplishments and rallying Republicans ahead of the midterm elections.

The convention has been going viral repeatedly since its opening day for reasons anti-LGBTQ+ conservatives aren’t happy about. Left-wing political commentator Hasan Piker’s name was on everyone’s lips after the Republican Party tried to discredit him by showing one of his nearly nude thirst traps on the Jumbotron as part of an anti-Democrat video package during the event. And reports that a Grindr outage in the area was caused by too many people using the hookup app went viral on social media, although the rumor has since been disproven.

“I’m going to be using Grindr and escort sites to lure in unsuspecting religious and Republican lawmakers and leaders to expose them,” Pringle said of his plan in a video that has already racked up more than 5 million views at the time of publication.

So-called “family values” Republicans have been caught with male escorts or been a part of gay sex scandals so many times over the years that it has become a frequently mentioned cliché. In 2016, The Advocate even reported that male escorts came forward and said their business was booming during the Republican National Convention.

The social media influencer with more than 250,000 followers on Instagram and nearly that number on TikTok also repeatedly mentioned being “nervous” about his undercover mission.

“If this is the last message that you hear from me, I’m either dead or have been sufficiently threatened,” he said.

Pringle posted the video less than 24 hours ago, and although he said he would keep everyone updated on his progress on his YouTube channel, he has not released any follow-up videos yet. Pringle also claimed that he tried to get other influencers and content creators to join his mission, but is “flying solo” because “they’re all talk.”
