This is the fourth release of Elska’s “bookazine.” Having mined some of the colder, northern countries (see ita recent issue on Reykjavík), editor and founder Liam Campbell took the show to Lisbon.
The Lisbon men include both natives and longtime residents, with ages ranging from 23 to 47, giving a wide representation of the city’s population, not just the “perfect” men seen in most gay magazines. “We don’t seek out professional models for Elska,” says Campbell. “Instead we just go on to various sites and apps, such as Planet Romeo, Hornet, Grindr, Instagram, Facebook, etc., and started messaging whoever was online to see if people were up for a photo shoot. In Lisbon we had such a great response that we had to turn some guys down due to lack of time.”
Elska magazine is sold in selected retailers worldwide or for order online. The 156-page Issue (04) Lisbon is available as a print or as a tablet/iPad version. A list of outlets and details of the subscription service can be found on the Elska website, www.elskamagazine.com.
