WATCH: To Rand Paul, Marriage Equality Signals 'Moral Crisis'

The Kentucky senator appealed to the far-right-wing of his party during a private prayer breakfast.

GOP senator and likely 2016 presidential hopeful Rand Paul wants to return to the days of tent revivals and a more "moral" America -- at least according to a video now circulating.

The clip, initially posted by the Christian Broadcasting Network and then excerpted by Right Wing Watch, features Paul speaking with religious leaders at a prayer breakfast on Thursday in Washington, D.C. He dropped the term "moral crisis" twice, the second time as a direct reference to marriage equality. He also vowed to bring back the days of tent revivals, where the religious demanded "reform" from immorality.

Despite some early speculation that Paul's libertarian-leaning brand of Republicanism might eventually allow for tacit support of marriage equality, earlier this year the Kentucky senator backed away from supporting the word "marriage" to describe the legal recogntion of a relationship between two committed, loving adults (of the same sex). Calling such unions marriage "offends" Paul, he said in January. His latest remarks seem to travel further down that antigay path. Watch below:
