JD Vance, Who Has Literally Done Drag, Tries to Slam James Talarico for Having a Favorite Drag Queen

One of these two politicians has been photographed in drag and it’s not the Democrat.

This story originally appeared on Them.

In a video clip that has now been widely shared on right-wing social media, an attendee at a recent campaign event for Texas Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico asks the lawmaker who his favorite Texan drag queen is. Talarico responds quickly, sharing that he’s a fan of Drag Race season 5 alum Alyssa Edwards, in an exchange that lasts fewer than ten seconds.

But Republicans, including the folks over at Fox News, have been trying to make a mountain out of it anyway. It seems Talarico’s swift mention of the iconic queen was far too nonchalant and informed for their conservative taste. Even Vice President JD Vance decided to weigh in, sharing the video to his own X page with a sole photo of himself looking annoyed and bothered.

Funny. Unless my little gay eyes are deceiving me, it seems we have ample evidence of JD Vance in his own drag getup circa the 2010s while he attended Yale Law School…

In August 2024, amid a heated presidential election, content creator Matt Bernstein leaked photos showing the then-vice presidential nominee in drag. The photos in question show Vance wearing a tight black top; a chunky, cheugy wrapped silver necklace; a ratty, plasticky-looking, much-too-bright blonde wig; and overly smoky heavy liner.

And the replies to Vance’s attempt to make himself into a shady meme have no shortage of digs dragging the veep for all he’s worth.

One user said, “I'm sure @StephenM's favorite drag queen is JD Vance.”

“He obviously should’ve said you Queen! 😒 💅,” another joked, sharing the same Yale-era photo.

“I sense jealousy,” another X user chided.

One user commented with a screenshot from the fact-checking website Snopes, saying, “If Snopes is correct, then Republicans really shouldn’t go there...”

But my personal favorite is this comment throwing major shade: “I know you aint throwing stones....CouchARella.....”

Moral of the story: Don’t fire shots when you don’t have a leg to stand on. Or rather when there are incriminating photos that contradict your vile, anti-LGBTQ+ opinions.
